Welcome.
I appreciate your interest in my campaign for the office of Treasurer of the City of Oxnard, California.
On this web site I will be posting my views concerning important issues affecting the residents of Oxnard.
I will also post information and invitations to meetings and candidate forums which will take place during the campaign leading up to the November 4, 2008 election. I look forward to meeting as many residents as possible at these events.
I would like to begin by setting forth my basic positions in this election.
In my view, the most important duty and obligation of the Treasurer is to safeguard and protect the financial resources of the city and guard against the wasteful or illegal use of city funds.
I pledge to the citizens of Oxnard that I will serve as your city Treasurer in the most professional, hardworking and efficient manner possible.
I will represent you in demanding the highest ethical standards in every city department and from everyone who does business with our city.
I will work hard to assure that financial resources are always secure and available for essential city services to protect the public safety, economic viability and the quality of life in our city.
I will fight against unnecessary tax increases.
I will fight against any wasteful, unwise, unnecessary or risky spending of city funds and resources.
I also understand the importance of of good management of the Treasurer's department and all other departments of the city.
A policy of excellent service, courtesy, efficiency, accuracy and ease of access will govern the manner in which my department serves the residents of Oxnard.
I pledge to protect the rights of every taxpayer and resident of Oxnard.
I would be honored to have your vote for me, Martin Jones, as Oxnard City Treasurer.
